SUMMARY:The Great Roanoke Pinball Pub Crawl!
DESCRIPTION:It’s the Roanoke Pinball League’s first off-site tournament — at not one\, not two\, but THREE different breweries! Have a drink\, socialize\, play some pinball\, and win some cash! \nQualifying will be held simultaneously at both Golden Cactus Brewing (214 5th St. SW) and across the street at Big Lick Brewing Co (409 Salem Ave. SW)\, followed by playoffs a quick walk away to Twisted Track Brewpub (523 Shenandoah Ave. NW)! \nThe tournament will be in “Best Game” format. Participants will play each game at least once between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on the available pins during qualifying. Each game may be played up to 3 times in an effort to increase your score on each machine\, potentially moving you up in the rankings as you outscore other opponents. As each game finishes\, the tournament director at your location will record your score on that machine. Once your score is recorded\, you must either move to another game\, or go to the back of the line to try again on the same game. Points will be awarded based on how you rank against everyone else on that machine. \nQualifying will end at 4 p.m. sharp\, at which point any remaining scores will be entered and calculated. To account for the possibility of a machine breaking down before all participants can play it at least once\, each player’s 1 or 2 worst-ranked games may be dropped. \nTop 4 in the standings at 4 p.m. will go on to the playoff. We will re-convene at 5 p.m. at Twisted Track for a 4-game playoff\, scored 7/5/3/1 for each game. Any ties will result in a 1-ball playoff on the game of the TD’s choosing. Prize money will be distributed to all 4 finalists as follows — 1st: 50%\, 2nd: 25%\, 3rd: 15%\, 4th: 10%. \nCost to register is $15\, and machines will be on coin play. 100% of entries will go to the prize pool. Please bring cash\, as we will be unable to process credit cards. A change machine will also be on site at both Golden Cactus and Big Lick. \nThis will not be an IFPA-sanctioned event\, but if it goes well\, future ones may be! \nGame List\nQualifying Round (1-4pm): All games can be played a maximum of 3 times each\, with your best score on each counting toward your ranking.\n  – Golden Cactus:\nDr. Dude\nEarthshaker\nThe Mandalorian (Pro)\nMedieval Madness (Remake)\nSorcerer (pending)\nStar Trek (Bally) \n  – Big Lick Brewing:\nBuck Rogers\nJurassic Park (Pro)\nMata Hari (SS)\nStar Wars (Premium) \nPlayoff Round (5pm): The top 4 players will play 1 game each on all 4 games to determine the final standing.\n  – Twisted Track Brewpub:\nCactus Canyon (Remake Special)\nDeadpool (Pro)\nJudge Dredd\nStingray \nFAQ \nQ: How much money should I bring?\nA: Approximately $40. $15 for registration\, and enough cash to coin-up each machine at least once — There are 14 total games ranging from $0.50-$1.00 per game\, and it is encouraged to play them more than once (but no more than 3 times)\, in an effort to increase your chances of having a “good” score. \nQ: When/where do I register?\nA: Registration on the day can be done in CASH at Golden Cactus\, which opens at noon. Please state who is participating and for which event. \nQ: Do I need to show up right at 1 p.m.?\nA: No! As long as you can play all 10 qualifying games at least once\, you’re good. But\, the earlier you come\, the more time you have to get in multiple attempts. \nQ: What if I didn’t get to play a game (or games?)\nA: If you ran out of time\, you’ll take a zero on any game you didn’t get to\, but that score may be dropped in the event of a malfunction. \nQ: When will this end?\nA: Qualifying stops at 4 p.m.\, Playoff’s begin at 5 p.m. and should be done by approximately 6 p.m. \nThis is our first time attempting this format\, so bear with us as we work out any kinks. Your best score out of three on each machine will be compared against everyone else’s in Best Game-style. Top scorer on each game will get 2 extra points\, second highest will get 1 extra point\, everyone else will get 1 point for every player they beat. \nThe top 4 scorers for the night will go to a knockout style mini-tournament for the finals. All 4 players will compete on one machine in Group Match format. SUMMARY:January Holiday Hangover Tournament
DESCRIPTION:You asked for it\, and next month\, we’re finally doing it — an IFPA-sanctioned Group Match Play tournament! \nThe tournament will consist of 8 rounds. All players will play in all rounds in groups of 3 or 4 on randomly selected machines. Players will receive points each round depending on where they finish. (7 points for 1st place\, 5 points for 2nd\, 3 points for 3rd\, and 1 point for 4th. Groups of 3 scoring will be 7/4/1.) The player with the most points after 8 rounds will win. Tiebreaks will be decided on a single final game chosen at random\, with cash prizes awarded. \nReminder that this event is CASH ONLY.  $15 entry will be split between access to the museum\, as well as prize money for the winners.

DESCRIPTION:This month\, eliminations are… well\, eliminated! Instead of a Knockout-style tournament\, this time we’ll do a Round Robin (or possibly Double Round Robin\, depending on attendance).\nWhat will happen is everyone will play everyone else exactly once (or twice in the Double)\, and the person with the most victories wins the prize money for the night.\nThis event will not be IFPA-sanctioned\, but the plan is that the NEXT one we do will be\, so watch out for that if you are looking for those sweet sweet IFPA points.\nAs usual\, cost will be $15 to enter ($10 for Museum members)\, with cost being split between museum admission and prize money for the winners. CASH ONLY please.\nThe Roanoke Pinball Museum is located at 1 Market Square SE\, inside the Center in the Square building downtown. There is a parking garage next door.
