DESCRIPTION:Players will compete in 20 head-to-head matches on randomly assigned games\, followed by a 1-game playoff between the top 4 competitors. This will be an IFPA-sanctioned event\, and prize money will be awarded based on attendance. 1st place: 50%\, 2nd place: 25%\, 3rd place: 15%\, 4th place: 10%. \nNo extra balls will be played. Any ties for playoff qualification\, or in the playoff itself\, will be resolved with a 1-ball tiebreaker on a machine of the tournament director’s choice (or if the TD is amongst the tied individuals\, a neutral party will be asked to choose the game). \nCost for tournament entry is $20. $1 from each participant will go to IFPA sanctioning\, with the rest going to the prize pot. An additional $5 (waived for RPM VIP Patrons) will be required for admission to the Pinball Museum in lieu of coin drop. Entry fee must be paid in cash on the night of the tournament. SUMMARY:The Great Roanoke Pinball Pub Crawl!
DESCRIPTION:It’s the Roanoke Pinball League’s first off-site tournament — at not one\, not two\, but THREE different breweries! Have a drink\, socialize\, play some pinball\, and win some cash! \nQualifying will be held simultaneously at both Golden Cactus Brewing (214 5th St. SW) and across the street at Big Lick Brewing Co (409 Salem Ave. SW)\, followed by playoffs a quick walk away to Twisted Track Brewpub (523 Shenandoah Ave. NW)! \nThe tournament will be in “Best Game” format. Participants will play each game at least once between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on the available pins during qualifying. Each game may be played up to 3 times in an effort to increase your score on each machine\, potentially moving you up in the rankings as you outscore other opponents. As each game finishes\, the tournament director at your location will record your score on that machine. Once your score is recorded\, you must either move to another game\, or go to the back of the line to try again on the same game. Points will be awarded based on how you rank against everyone else on that machine. \nQualifying will end at 4 p.m. sharp\, at which point any remaining scores will be entered and calculated. To account for the possibility of a machine breaking down before all participants can play it at least once\, each player’s 1 or 2 worst-ranked games may be dropped. \nTop 4 in the standings at 4 p.m. will go on to the playoff. We will re-convene at 5 p.m. at Twisted Track for a 4-game playoff\, scored 7/5/3/1 for each game. Any ties will result in a 1-ball playoff on the game of the TD’s choosing. Prize money will be distributed to all 4 finalists as follows — 1st: 50%\, 2nd: 25%\, 3rd: 15%\, 4th: 10%. \nCost to register is $15\, and machines will be on coin play. 100% of entries will go to the prize pool. Please bring cash\, as we will be unable to process credit cards. A change machine will also be on site at both Golden Cactus and Big Lick. \nThis will not be an IFPA-sanctioned event\, but if it goes well\, future ones may be! \nGame List\nQualifying Round (1-4pm): All games can be played a maximum of 3 times each\, with your best score on each counting toward your ranking.\n  – Golden Cactus:\nDr. Dude\nEarthshaker\nThe Mandalorian (Pro)\nMedieval Madness (Remake)\nSorcerer (pending)\nStar Trek (Bally) \n  – Big Lick Brewing:\nBuck Rogers\nJurassic Park (Pro)\nMata Hari (SS)\nStar Wars (Premium) \nPlayoff Round (5pm): The top 4 players will play 1 game each on all 4 games to determine the final standing.\n  – Twisted Track Brewpub:\nCactus Canyon (Remake Special)\nDeadpool (Pro)\nJudge Dredd\nStingray \nFAQ \nQ: How much money should I bring?\nA: Approximately $40. $15 for registration\, and enough cash to coin-up each machine at least once — There are 14 total games ranging from $0.50-$1.00 per game\, and it is encouraged to play them more than once (but no more than 3 times)\, in an effort to increase your chances of having a “good” score. \nQ: When/where do I register?\nA: Registration on the day can be done in CASH at Golden Cactus\, which opens at noon. Pre-registration may be done via Paypal by sending your entry fee (Friends & Family only) to roanokepinballleague@gmail.com. Please state who is participating and for which event. \nQ: Do I need to show up right at 1 p.m.?\nA: No! As long as you can play all 10 qualifying games at least once\, you’re good. But\, the earlier you come\, the more time you have to get in multiple attempts. \nQ: What if I didn’t get to play a game (or games?)\nA: If you ran out of time\, you’ll take a zero on any game you didn’t get to\, but that score may be dropped in the event of a malfunction. \nQ: When will this end?\nA: Qualifying stops at 4 p.m.\, Playoff’s begin at 5 p.m. and should be done by approximately 6 p.m. \nThis is our first time attempting this format\, so bear with us as we work out any kinks. SUMMARY:Monthly Max Match Play Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Starting in June\, we’ll be having a Max Match Play tournament on the third Sunday of every month! \nPlayers will compete in 20 head-to-head matches on randomly assigned games\, followed by a 1-game playoff between the top 4 competitors. This will be an IFPA-sanctioned event\, and prize money will be awarded based on attendance. 1st place: 50%\, 2nd place: 30%\, 3rd place: 20%. \nNo extra balls will be allowed to be played.  Any ties for playoff qualification\, or in the playoff itself\, will be resolved with a 1-ball tiebreaker round on a machine of the tournament director’s choice (or if the TD is amongst the tied individuals\, a neutral party will be asked to choose the game). \nCost for entry is $15 ($10 for RPM VIP Patrons). $1 from each participant will go to IFPA sanctioning\, $9 goes to the prize pot\, and $5 (waived for RPM VIP Patrons) counts as admission to the Pinball Museum in lieu of coin drop. Entry fee must be paid in cash on the night of the tournament. DESCRIPTION:League is back for the Spring! \nReturning members have first dibs on available spots\, so new members must join the waiting list. To do so\, express your interest by emailing roanokepinballleague@gmail.com. Please do not send money for dues unless asked to do so. As the number of available spots become known\, you will be contacted in waitlist order. \nLeague runs every other Monday\, beginning March 13. Format is Best Game. Everyone will play the same 8 games\, in groups of 3 or 4\, and your scores will be ranked against everyone else’s in the league. Groups and machines are randomized each week\, and each player’s lowest two nights’ scores are dropped. \nAfter 6 weeks\, an A and B division will be determined. At the end of 8 weeks\, the top 4 players in each division will compete in a playoff competition for final rankings and prize money. For everyone not in the playoffs\, a knockout tournament and pizza party will be held. \nLeague dues are $25 for the season. A $5 admission to the museum will be required each session in lieu of coin drop (waived for RPM VIP Patrons). DESCRIPTION:Some of our tournaments this year are going to be a bit experimental\, somewhat off the beaten path — kinda… weird. \nAnd what better way to close out January than with our brand new Weird Al machine? \n4 machines will be chosen\, and each will be played by everyone 3 times. Your best score out of three on each machine will be compared against everyone else’s in Best Game-style. Top scorer on each game will get 2 extra points\, second highest will get 1 extra point\, everyone else will get 1 point for every player they beat. \nThe top 4 scorers for the night will go to a knockout style mini-tournament for the finals. All 4 players will compete on one machine in Group Match format. The top 3 scorers on that game move to the next game\, and the top 2 from that game will go head-to-head on Weird Al’s Museum of Natural Hilarity (assuming it’s still in working order). \nDoors open for practice play at 6:00pm\, with the tournament beginning at 6:30pm. Tournament games will be turned off during practice. \n\nRegistration is $15 ($10 for RPM VIP Patrons). $10 goes to the prize pool\, and the remaining $5 goes toward museum admission (waived for VIP Patrons) in lieu of coin drop. DESCRIPTION:Tournaments are back with a vengeance in 2023! Let’s ring in the new year with a double elimination challenge. Player’s will be pitted head-to-head on randomly assigned games\, with a winner’s bracket and a loser’s bracket. Lose twice and you are eliminated from the tournament. Players in each bracket keep advancing until there is only one player left. The finalist from the loser’s bracket must then beat the finalist from the winner’s bracket twice in order to win the tournament. \nDoors open for registration and practice play at 6:00pm\, with the tournament beginning at 6:30pm. \nRegistration is $15 ($10 for RPM VIP Patrons). $1 from the tourney buy-in goes to the IFPA for the sanctioning of events\, $5 for museum admission (waived for VIP Patrons)\, and the remaining $9 goes to the prize pool.
